revealed!!!!!! bev at it again - “God Knows, I Wanted To Be a Reverend Sister Before BBA” – Beverly Osu - See more at: http://www.gistplanet.com/2013/09/god-knows-i-wanted-to-be-reverend.

Beverly Osu who represented Nigeria and became one of the most talked-about housemate has now revealed that being controversial has never been her goal, Big Brother Africa 2013 finalist .

In a recent interview on Abuja, she talks about life before the house and what her future plans her.

Life before Big Brother:
Before Big Brother, I was into entertainment. Big Brother Africa was just a platform for me to do what I wanted to do. Before now, I wanted to be an actress, I wanted to be a reverend sister, but things did not just work out the way I planned it.

Being a controversial housemate:
Going to the house, I didn’t have any plan or strategy. I just went in there. While in the house, I used to be blunt every time, it used to be me living my normal life. The controversial side, I don’t know because I used to be a very sweet person.

On how she was never up for eviction:
I didn’t do anything. I know that people picked my name but I wasn’t bothered because I also got to pick one or two people. I knew when Natasha or anybody else picked me for eviction but I understood it was just a game. However, I was generally liked in the house because I’m a people’s person.

On her relationship with Angelo:
Me and Angelo were so business minded people, we think alike, we do a lot of things together. We have projects we are working on together so, it was much like we went to BBA as individuals but we didn’t come there to mark time. And now, we have a platform we have to use. Now, he is in his country but when there is something to do, we will go together. It is not that we won’t have our time but it’s more of the business because we all came for something in our lives and since we have gotten the opportunity, we should use it right.

Her future plans:
School, my career-acting, so many things in next year let me feel I’m not sure what to say next because my voice is Ok - See more at: http://www.gistplanet.com/2013/09/god-knows-i-wanted-to-be-reverend.html#sthash.zDSe4oDF.dpuf

FOLLOWING TRADITION: Cheating Couple Made To Walk Naked To Cleanse Land In Benue (PHOTOS)

We received an exclusive report during the week from one of our dear readers who shared and revealed the culture of the Idoma people of Benue state.....See pics after the cut:

Culture & Tradition: Man And Woman Made To Walk Naked To Cleanse Land [Photos]
This incident was said to have occurred on Thursday 19th September at Orokam, Obadigbo Local Government area of Benue State.

The woman pictured in the above photograph, is said to be the wife of a popular school proprietor in the area which draws students from Benue as well as neighbouring Enugu and Kogi states. She lost her husband on Tuesday, and was accused by her husband’s people of having committed adultery which she admitted she was guilty of.

Further revelation by members of Orokam stated that there is an oracle called “ALEKWU” in that town which punishes married women that cheats on their husbands and also deters people from committing atrocities. The Oracle supposedly issues out a warning to the husband of any adulterous woman of which if he fails to take appropriate actions or return to the village from wherever he is to perform the proper rites for cleansing himself and his family, he will die. More pics after the cut:

“This was the case of the proprietor as he failed to adhere to the instruction of the oracle” a villager revealed.

In a bid to cleanse the land of their atrocity as well as appease “Alekwu” not to kill her and the person she committed adultery with (pictured above), they were both asked to walk round the market naked by the village elder. They were not to be touched or harmed by anyone.

She was afterwards sent packing to her father’s house and banned from attending the funeral of her husband. What is your take on this?

REVEALED - Genevieve And I Are Not In A Sexual Relationship, We Are Just Good Friends - Ella Martins

It happened that some soft-sell magazines before now had reported that, Genevieve Nnaji and her Benin Republic actress, Ella Martins friend were lesbians and partners in the act.  Ella recently reacted to this, and reviewed to Gossippme blog that such a thing never happened between them. Her words;

Genevieve is a very good friend of mine...we met way back in 2004 and we have been good friends since then. The story that we are lovers must have come from another female friend of hers. I am saying this because since 2004, there have been no such lesbian stories but suddenly it sprung up.
Towards the end of last year, I came to Nigeria and I stayed with Genevieve. Although we stayed under the same roof, we slept in different rooms. Click below to continue reading.

There was a time during my visit that we both went to see a friend in a hotel in Lekki and people saw us going in. We later went clubbing that night with the friend and which I think is a normal thing for girls to club if they want to. But that was when the rumours got worse, that we went into the hotel to sleep with each other!!!

She said it’s not the first time the Press would label her a lesbian but she has developed a thick skin and so it doesn’t bother her because she knows she is not a lesbian!

Genevieve and I have known each other since 2004 and she really is a nice person if you get to know her. We talk on phone a lot and we discuss life's issues like normal girls do...she is a wonderful person.I guess it’s because she is a famous person that some undesirable elements want to tarnish her image...and mine too. The Press make things worse too. There was a time I performed with Tony Tetuila and there were rumours after then that we were dating. But I just want to emphasize here that Genevieve and I are not in any form of sexual relationship, we are just good friends

Famous Ghanaian poet, Kenyan president's nephew among those killed in mall attack

Ghanaian poet and diplomat Kofi Awoonor, (pictured left) was among the 59 killed during the attack on Westgate Mall in Kenya yesterday. He was in Nairobi as a participant in the Storymoja Hay Festival, a 4-day celebration of writing, thinking and storytelling. The Ghanaian govt confirmed his death early Sunday morning. He was 78 years old. His son was also shot, but was not killed.
Also the president's nephew, Mbugua and his fiance Wahito (both pictured right) were killed in the attack yesterday.

Over 1,000 people have so far been evacuated from the mall, but an unknown number of hostages are still inside with the terrorists believed to be about 15. Kenyan security forces have been locked in a standoff with gunmen since yesterday. Gun shots have been heard all morning in the area.

Heavily armed men pulled up in several cars yesterday and shot their way into the most upmarket shopping centre in Nairobi, ordering Muslims out if they could prove their religion by reciting a prayer or answering a question on Islam. They started killing those who failed the test.

BBC reported that at least one of the attackers was a woman who had some kind of leadership role

Globacom’s Group Executive Director, Mrs Bella Disu (right) handing over a cheque for N24million to the winner of Glo X Factor singing reality show, DJ Switch. Left is Sony Music Marketing Director, Spiro Damaskinos.
The 29-year-old geology graduate of the University of Port Harcourt and native of Udi, Enugu State, was declared winner at the grand finale of the show held at Dream Studios, Bamako Street, Omole, Lagos. She beat the two other finalists Ethel Eshun and Vicky Gomoti in the last round of voting to win Globacom’s N24 million cash prize and a recording contract with Sony Music. Continue...

Before the announcement of the results, the expectation of audience, judges and contestants alike had built to a crescendo as everybody waited anxiously to find out who the first X Factor winner in Africa
would be.

The suspense was to last even longer as Glo ambassador from Ghana, Efya, came on stage for a wonderful performance that had the audience applauding rapturously. After her performance, X Factor host, Toolz, turned to the judges and sought to know how they felt about the night.

Reggie answered first, “I’m so excited that I brought my wife with me so we can both be excited together. It’s been a beautiful journey; I can’t wait to see who will walk away with the money.”

According to MI, “It’s been incredible. The crew, my fellow judges and the contestants have all been wonderful.”

Toolz asked Onyeka, “Who do you think will be the winner tonight?”
Onyeka answered with a smile, “I was so excited, I brought my Bible along with me. At this stage, I think the last three contestants have all won.”

Shortly afterwards, 2008 UK X Factor winner, delectable Alexandra Burke, got the hall on its feet with a resounding applause for a great performance of her hit track, Halleluyah. She was later joined on stage
by the three finalists, DJ Switch, Eshun and Vicky as they all spectacularly chorused the song together.

“Shake” and “Ada Ada” crooner, Flavour, came onstage next to thrill guests with a scintillating performance. He proved why he was a crowd favourite as the audience rose to their feet to dance along with him. After Flavour’s performance, the contestants came out to sing the songs they sang at the audition stage.

Vicky led the performances, and she got a standing ovation from the three judges. “How did your daughter perform?” Toolz inquired of Onyeka. “She has grown from a pupa to a butterfly. She sang with confidence and inner joy. I had goose pimples just listening to her. I have no doubt that she’ll make it. May God bless you.”

Reggie added, “You just proved to us that our work has not been in vain,” while MI said, “Wow, Vicky is just so amazing. You are absolutely stunning. The way you’re radiating joy; don’t keep it to yourself, please, share it with the world.”

DJ Switch came up next, garbed in a tight black trouser with black top to match. Her entry engendered a boisterous response from the crowd with her performance of Jay Z’s “Forever Young,” which was heavily
spiced up with raps. In a mild drama, the contestant switched over backwards, precariously clutching the mic as she raps. Her stagecraft even drew a wider applause when she stepped down the stage to hug her mother, while still singing without losing concentration.

Reacting to her performance, MI said, “Switch, people scream when you perform because you inspire us all. When you came for the audition, I felt you tried. I had already made up my mind that you wouldn’t make
it to my final three mentees, but you changed my mind. Everybody here needs to know that no matter what people say about you, it doesn’t matter as long as you fight.” he concluded. Reggie gushed, “DJ Switch, you are inspirational; you excite me. My children love you; everybody loves you!” As for Onyeka, she opined, “Unlike the other judges, the moment you stepped on stage, I knew you had it.”

When asked why she should win the X Factor, Switch simply said: “I work hard; I pray hard.”

Eshun was the next to perform, and she pulled out all the stops as she shimmered in her green attire. “One of the best things on this program is that I got to mentor Vicky and Eshun. She is exquisite, beautiful, gorgeous and talented. She walks onto the stage and lights it up. You have something that is very special. No matter what happens here, youhave me permanently in your camp. You will take the world by storm!” Onyeka declared.

MI said, “You are a perfect example of what this show is all about. You epitomises everything X Factor stands for. You’ve been one of my favourites.” Her Ghanaian compatriot, Reggie, said, “My story with my sister is different. We come from the same place and people expect me to give her a pass. It often seems as if I’m tough on you, but look at where you stand now. You have done well!”

On why she thinks she should win the competition, Eshun said, “The potter in the Bible goes around looking for clay to mold them into the type of pots that he wants. X Factor came looking for me; found me and I am glad. These past weeks, I have gone through moulding, and now, I’m ready.”

Then the climax! The contestants held hands together as they anticipated the results that would change the lives of one of them forever.

As Toolz invited the representative from Alexandra Forbes to the stage, she lingered a bit, teasing the audience as she twirled the green envelope containing the results in her hands.

“The first winner of the Glo X Factor West Africa is DJ Switch!” she announced as the crowd erupted in jubilation.

“How do you feel?” Toolz asked Eshum. She answered, “Fortunately, the Lord did what He wanted to do, and I’m happy for that.”

Vicky said, “I want to thank Glo for this platform, and I think DJ Switch deserved to win.”

Thereafter, DJ Switch performed her single, “Safe Landing” which is billed for release next week.

The first runner-up was Eshun and she got the sum of N1m for her efforts, while Vicky, the second runner-up, also got N1m.
